True Stories : June 6th to 8th at WEP Central
We’re hosting a series of conversations – in person and online – to address an increasingly urgent issue: tackling misinformation, disinformation and fake news in an online environment. There’s an irony here, perhaps, in an analogue newspaper hosting this series, but it only speaks to the urgency of these conversations. Over three days, we will be discussing issues that affect all of us as we seek to remain informed and engaged in an environment of overwhelming, ever-present real – and fabricated– information. Guests will include writers and speakers like Olivia Bowden, Josh Visser, Mack Lamoureux, Gabby Lim, Vass Bednar and Craig Silverman, as well as a special conversation with Federal Justice Minister Arif Virani, whose Online Harm Act has loomed large in recent months.
These conversations will all take place live, in person in our space at WEP Central (3 Bartlett), with a webcast simultaneously streaming on YouTube for folks who can’t attend.
Each event will be $10 + HST admission, with limited seating available.
Thank you to the sponsors of this event: COMA Edits, Gladstone Hotel, PSiphon and Waska Media.
