Community-based social resilience with Sanjay Khanna

  • WEP Central 3 Bartlett Avenue Toronto, ON, M6H 1M3 Canada (map)

We are honoured to have Sanjay Khanna, chief futurist at SK Futures Inc, lead us through a brilliant and timely workshop on defining the (very) local challenges of building community-based social resilience for the climate change era!

Environmental and climate change are converging with societal inequalities to create eco-anxiety for numerous individuals. Khanna, who launched the world’s first conference on the psychological, social, and cultural impacts of climate change 14 years ago, will share a presentation on societal change and the climate crisis, and open up a dialogue on community-based social resilience. This will be followed by co-learning exercises that aim to wrap our heads around the challenges of multiple converging crises, as well as to identify constructive ways to think about what is meant by, and left unsaid, when we talk about preparing for crises at the hyper-local community level.

Based on an approach that values and honours participants’ skills and lived experiences, participants will leave the workshop with clear and useful insights that can inform preparation and action for climate, mental health, and social crises.

The workshop will take place over 2.5 hours at WEP Central (3 Bartlett Ave), cost of entry is Pay What You Can at the door, no one turned away for lack of funds. In order to encourage the safe and equitable participation of immunocompromised individuals or persons with disabilities, all participants must wear N95 or equivalent respirators during the entire session.

N95 or KN95 respirators will be provided free of charge for those who do not have them.

The session will be limited to 18 participants, PLEASE RSVP to register, hello@westendphoenix.com
