We’re thrilled to announce a new, ongoing poetry series at WEP Central starting this fall!
On the second Tuesday of every month, we’ll host two poets from throughout Toronto in our cozy downtown space located at 3 Bartlett Avenue! Big thanks to Paul Vermeersch for helping organize an AMAZING lineup of poets for you this fall!
Our first event is September 12th, and features Khashayar Mohammadi and Eva H.D!
Khashayar “Kess” Mohammadi (They/Them) is a queer, Iranian born, Toronto-based Poet, Writer and Translator. They were shortlisted for the 2021 Austin Clarke poetry prize, 2022’s Arc Poem of the year award, The Malahat Review’s 2023 Open Season awards for poetry and they are the winner of the 2021 Vallum Poetry Prize. They are the author of four poetry chapbooks and three translated poetry chapbooks. They have released two full-length collections of poetry with Gordon Hill Press. Their full-length collaborative poetry collection G is forthcoming with Palimpsest press Fall 2023, and their full-length book of experimental dream-poems Daffod*ls is forthcoming from Pamenar Press Fall 2023.
Eva H.D. wrote The Natural Hustle; also the short film “Jackals & Fireflies,” directed by Charlie Kaufman. Eva will be hosting a special screening of the film the night after our event, September 13, at the Paradise Theatre! Tickets and more info for that event HERE
