Fiction at the Phoenix is back on August 29th at WEP Central (3 Bartlett Ave) with Carrianne Leung and Sarah Henstra!

Carrianne Leung is a fiction writer and assistant professor at the University of Guelph in Creative Writing. Her debut novel, The Wondrous Woo was shortlisted for the 2014 Toronto Book Awards. Her collection of linked stories, That Time I Loved You was named one of the Best Books of 2018 by CBC, shortlisted for the Toronto Book Awards 2019, long listed for Canada Reads 2019 and awarded the Danuta Gleed Literary Award 2019. She is currently working on a new novel, titled The After. 

Sarah Henstra is the author of the novels The Lost Tarot and The Red Word, which won the 2018 Governor General’s Literary Award for Fiction and was nominated for the Dublin International Literary Award. She is also author of the young adult novels Mad Miss Mimic, a CLA Best Book for Teens and a finalist for the Geoffrey Bilson Award for Historical Fiction for Young People, and We Contain Multitudes, which was the 2022 “Vermont Reads” program title and was nominated for the White Pine Award. Sarah holds a PhD in English and is a professor at Toronto Metropolitan University.

Doors open at 7:15 PM, with readings starting at 7:30
