“I am ashamed for myself, and afraid for us all”

I am a border baby: U.S. birth, Canadian parents. In 2013, I moved to the U.S. for the first time. I discovered to my great surprise that I am a Canadian patriot. I was back in Toronto by November of 2016.

At home, I miss my partner in the U.S. When I’m with her, I miss home in Toronto. And all the time, I miss the U.S. itself: a nation that put a man on the moon not two months after I was born now rejects science. I am ashamed for myself, and afraid for us all.
